This is SEEADO’s core program. It encompasses the following key components: biodiversity conservation, landscape restoration, climate change resilience, and environmental health. The goals of the program are:

  1. To promote community-led conservation of biodiversity and protection of wildlife habitats, while supporting the livelihoods of local people.

2. To restore ecosystem/ecological functions of degraded landscapes, while enhancing the living conditions of the local population.

3. To promote resilient ecosystems for the benefit of biodiversity, people and the climate by promoting adaptation and mitigation measures.

4. To promote a safe environment for the wellbeing of both humans and wildlife by supporting transition to clean energy, combatting pollution etc.

The following approaches/key activities will be employed to achieve this program: conservation/environmental education, capacity building, wildlife monitoring, research, tree planting, agroforestry, land use planning and governance, alternative livelihood support, supporting clean energy transition, waste management, combating pollution, and legal protection of wildlife habitats through the creation and/or management of protected areas.

The project will be implemented in the following priority areas: The Santchou Wildlife Reserve in the West Region of Cameroon, the Kimbi-Fungom National Park in the Northwest Region of Cameroon, and the Bomoko Forest Reserve in the Southwest Region of Cameroon.

SEEADO will work in collaboration with local community members, village authorities, local conservation authorities, relevant government agencies, local/national/international organizations having an interest in the areas of intervention.
